Weight Loss After The First Month
Author : Cathy Morenzie
"The elevator to success is out of order. You ' ll have to use the stairs... one step at a time.”
-- Joe Girard
Have you noticed that all the warm, fuzzy, inspired feelings you felt last month have waned a bit? Or disappeared entirely? It’s no longer so easy to resist the temptations, to make the time to exercise, or to surrender this area to your life to God. When did this change happen?
It happens to everyone who starts a weight release program. The trick is to rise above what happens to the majority - the people who will tell themselves that they’ve failed and then either give up or just wait for the next fad.
You cannot lose weight through your motivation alone. You cannot lose weight through hard work alone. And you cannot lose weight through willpower alone. Although each of these factors can be helpful at various times in your journey -- they cannot give you long-lasting results.
So what do you do when you no longer feel like making the right food choices? When you no longer feel like exercising, and when you no longer feel like honouring your goals?
You do it anyway. I know this is seems simplistic, and yes, it is also easier said than done. But the truth is, there really is no magic bullet. If there were, we would all be thin.
The good news is that God promises He will never leave you alone and never forsake you (Deut 31:8). When you are tempted He will always provide a way out and He will never give you more than you can bear (1 Cor. 10:13). If you put your trust in Him He will renew your strength (Isaiah 40:30).
There are many people in the bible to whom God had to offer some encouragement. As God promised to be with Abraham (Genesis 15:1), Jeremiah (Jer. 1:6-8), and Moses (Exodus 4:15) during their trials, He promises to be with us too.
