How To Wait On God For Your Weight Release
Author : Cathy Morenzie
But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. James 1:6
When, God, when? As Christians, that’s one of our constant questions. We‘re not very good at waiting for things indefinitely, and this is especially true for weight release. Even though it may have taken us many years to gain weight, we tend to want to lose weight quickly, or we give up hope that it will ever happen because the task seems so insurmountable.
The Bible has a lot to teach us about waiting, about doubting, and about believing God for our breakthroughs. Job had to wait for God for His restoration and answers, Abraham and Sarah had to wait on God for His promise of sending them a child (Genesis 21:1), and of course the Israelites had many doubts of their own while waiting in the wilderness (Exodus 16:1-3).
How does God want us to wait?
• God wants us to ask, believe and receive. Jesus says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matt. 7:7)
• He wants us to trust His timing and stop asking how and when. “But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” (James 1:6)
• He wants us to believe that it’s on the way – “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” (Matt. 21:22)
• He wants us to give thanks and praise at all times, especially while waiting. I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise will continually be in my mouth.
Action Steps to help you trust God and not doubt:
Thank God every day that you are healthy, whole and at your perfect weight.
Weigh yourself once a week at the most – avoid weighing yourself every day, which can discourage you.
Act as if you were at your ideal weight – experience that feeling every day in your mind. How would you act differently, and how would you feel? Your mind has to first conceive it before you can actually achieve it.
Trust the word of God and not your negative feelings, regardless of what you feel or what the situation looks like; continue to stand on God’s promises.
Pray this prayer:
Father, I thank you for your promises. I know that your word will never return void. If you spoke a word to me I know that you will do exactly what you said. I walk in the spirit of faith and trust. I thank you for perfect health in my body, mind and spirit and I claim it today in the name of your son and king, Jesus. I release all anxiety about how and when I will be at my ideal weight; that’s your responsibility, not mine. My only responsibility is to believe as I continue to walk in Your will and Your ways.
